Guys I need some help sourcing parts for rebuilding my 12 bolt rear axle. It ran without oil for a time and now has a faint whine. Dumping fluid out of pinion. I have 3.73 with Eaton lsd in it now. When I do the new bearing I want to go 4.10 gear. So will 4.10s work with my carrier and if so can anyone provide a place or link of a set of ring and pinion and shims and bearings for the 12 bolt? I don't have a phone at work so I can't call around and research so I need a little help! Lol.

Also, the pinion yoke that is in the 12 bolt was never right I don't think. It bolts up fine but it doesn't fit the U joint that fits my drive shaft. I tried like 6 different sets of U-joint straps and ended up having to put spacers between the strap and the yolk. So if anyone could point me to the right pinion yoke that came on the 12 bolt I would much appreciate that too. Thank you guys for any help you can provide

You should be able to buy a thick gear set to use with your 3 series carrier. I'll check around later and see if it's possible. I think your rear u-joints are 1310, it's possible you have some oddball 1330 or maybe even a 1350 pinion yoke. This website has precise measurements for u-joints, should help you find out what that are/should be. Just click on a u-joint and scroll down, it will have the specs.

On a truck 12 b, the carrier is 2.73 & down / 2.76 to 3.42 / 3.73 & up

So, youre telling me that a ring and pinion 4.10 set for a 12 bolt 8.875 with my carrier will work?

My current yoke meaures like 1 3/16" where the ujoint cap goes and you can tell its not right. The one I linked measures 1 1/16 like it should.

yeah they prob did lol.

So im worried about whether I havea 3 series or 4 carrier. I know the way to tell for sure is to take the carrier out and measure but I cantpull it apart yet until I get it to my brothers house on his lift, so I don't havr to pull the axle.

crazyoffroad, you acted like from the info I gave you that I had a 3 series carrier. Would a 4 series even come in an eaton LSD setup? Heres a 3 series setup and a 4.

The carrier break is 2.73-3.42, then 3.73 and up. If you have a 3.73 carrier now, you buy a R&P for 3.73 and up, or a "Thin" R&P.

If you have a 2.76-2.42 carrier, with a "Thick" 3.73 ring and pinion, then you need a thick gear.
