Just like everyone has been saying. I honestly thought this one was different. It's not. It's 3/4 inch short. Thinking of what square deal said and drill out the coupling and redrill a new hole.

By the way, don't be banging the old shaft to get it out. I may have damaged my steering wheel locking mech. I wound up sawzalling the old one out. EDIT: did not damage the locking mech. Still would not bang to get the old one off. Sawzall made quick painless work of it.

Also there is no Allen set screw under the boot!

I'll do what's in post 425 and use the c3500 shaft if I ever do any steering box replacement or upgrade.

OK, so you don't have to drill anything out, you just need a BFH and extend the shaft the 3/4" more you need. I couldn't do it by hand and had to bang it and guide it on to the steering lug. It's on!

Per the other thread by dd1990, I got Dorman part # 425-177 for $130 off Amazon. I pulled out the Jeep shaft and put the C3500 shaft in. It's a perfect fit. I'll post pictures of it in the truck tomorrow. For today I have comparison photos of the original shaft, the Jeep shaft, and the C3500/Dorman 425-177 shaft.

You ought to do a write up separate How To thread aboutt this Retro Mod and be sure to include things like year models that the C3500 shaft can be sourced from. Include pics if you have them, like before and afters, pre install, after install etc. We'd appreciate the added informative content. TIA

There's a guy locally who is selling a Borgeson steering shafts for a very good deal. I want to make sure it's the right one, however. Does anyone know the part number for the Borgeson so I can be sure?

Is there any advantage to the XJ shaft over this, or do they accomplish the same thing?

Sorry, I'm a newbie to K10s!
