So i replaced my Ignition switch and when i would put it in reverse or drive it would die. However if i hold the column shifter towards me, it will stay running in D or R. Did i tweak the linkage somehow?

Sounds like the neutral safety switch needs to be adjusted. I believe it is mounted on the column near the ignition switch.

Neutral safety switch should be on the column by the firewall. But it working with shifter pulled up might be something inside the column not aligning correctly with the new ignition switch.
If you lower the column to where the ignition switch is visible, can try to observe what it's doing
