Just picked up a 84 1/2 ton 2WD Step side. Its all stock and ready to drop. I'm going with a flip in the rear and considering 3" drop spindles in the front. I read on one of the forums that running the stock rally wheels with the 3" spindles was a problem? anyone have experience with this?

yes, i have 2.5" drop spindles and under full lock condition the inside of the wheel will contact the bottom control arm and chew up the wheel. i need to grind some metal off mine sometime so i can safely full lock my wheels.

mine arent rallys, but their 15s and will have same problem.

Howdy! I've also got an '84 2wd 1/2 ton stepside... but it was originally a fleetside. And it's not lowered. Yet.

With a flip in the rear and down 3 inches in the front, will the truck still have some rake to it?

I wouldn't think so. If anything I'm affraid the front might still be to high.
I'll be doing mine soon. I'll keep you posted.

Stock ride height has a factory 2in rake, a 3/5 drop should sit level. You will need a 2.5in spindle for a 15in wheel. Some spindles have a stated drop of 3in, 2.5in, and 2in but what Ive been hearing is they are all 2.5in drops. You will also need a 1 or 2in drop spring or cut one round off the stock springs(2in). The front will sit higher with spindle and flip only.

My son and I completed the drop on Rusty yesterday. Happy with the look. Still need to do the rear brakes and bleed the system.

rear flip using $14.00 perches from summit. 3 inch drop spindles in front and cut 1 coil. turned out to be about 4.5" front and 5.5" rear.
