Hey guys, iv got a 86 k20 with a turbo 400.
i have this noise that i think is my torque converter or transmission. Iv been told it could be exhaust and main bearings but the enigne is all rebuilt, did it my self so i know its not the enigne.

The norise was there before i rebuilt the engine. Its a sqeek noise like a chirping noise. WHen u rev the truck it gets louder and faster. does it in park and drive and every gear. I called a local trans shop and they told me it sounds like a torque converter.

ill post a vid from my phone that you can here the noise very well. that was the engine before rebuild and the noise is still there..

How about a loose bolt holding the TC to the flywheel?

Take the inspection cover off the trans and squirt some WD-40 up in there around the torque converter then start it up and see if it goes away, even for a second or two. If it does go away it gives you a place you know to start at. It almost sounds like power steering, but you're sure it isn't coming from the front of the engine?
