My ole Yukon used to randomly start backfiring and die at times. Ended up being the pickup coil. Died a few times in some mud holes

is the wire making good contact? check the fuse? check the relay or switch it back with the old one? have you tried to energize it thru the diagnostic port? I'd try that just find out which terminal it is and supply 12 volts to it and see if it comes on, if not might be something in the wiring or the pump, if it does work then, might be a wire up front or fuse or something?

As for aftermarket why ask about new parts when you haven't tested the old ones first? I'd hate to see ya throw cash at it for no reason. But if you do make sure it can do 14 psi continously. you need 12-14 for a tbi setup at least 12 or more prefferably and about 15 at most, maybe a bit too much.

It's been my experience that AC Delco pumps are a lot better than an aftermarket fuel pump because they last a whole lot longer. I had a friend that swapped in an aftermarket pump in his 87 K5 and it lasted 6 months. After he put in 3 in a 2 year period, he went with an AC Delco pump and it lasted 10 years.

oh my bad I thought you meant like an aftermarket frame rail mounted pump instead of in tank aftermarket. As for trying and taking it back good luck on that one, around here if it's electrical they do not take it back, like a relay or something unless it looks completely unused or touched or is the wrong one, but a fuel pump that'd smell like gas, no way they'd tell you they couldn't do it. it sucks but it's how they are.

i was talking about a frame mounted
but i got a buddy that said if i get his carbed motor in his 89 straight i could pull the fuel pump out of his tank so i would end up doin a days work for a fuel pump he said it aint very old i honestly wish i could just find out the pressure

maybe but it's more for carbs it looks like since it has barbed nipples on it, it might work if you get high pressure fuel hose to handle the 15 psi and couple of pieces of hose on each end with clamps, might work. I bought mine for $20 something and it actually threads into the fuel filter lines but I already had the fuel pressure tester to work with it.

well thats the thing i know its for a carb motor but i was thinking of using hoses on both ends and putting it where the fuel filter is just to test it and pull it off and go ahead and put it on my 82 since its carbed just for looks
i dont have a gauge and dont know anyone that does i wish i did

wel hopefully and it's not a wire, fuse or relay or combination. pop a line loose and turn the key on to see if it's pumping and check the fuse and wires if you can and put your old relay on it if you changed it to make sure.

Trust me, I bought an $85 fuel pump for an 86 camaro I had, after all the trouble of dropping the tank which meant the whole rear end was left hanging on by the lower controls arms, I found out a wire was my problem. But I could supply 12 volts to it thru the diagnostic port and hear it come on and get the car going.

Well it pumps just not strong and plus the noise went from loud to quiet to no noise the pressure is real low
