I've been kicking around the idea of using Plexiglas for my side just wanted to see if there is any bad reasons why I shouldn't. A couple of thing why I thought it would be great is that it won't get messed up if it get wet. Two before I cover them I can put them in and mark all of my holes

Table saw for the straight cuts and a jig saw for the rounded cuts.
