Yeah, I'd think they are going to come in black. Since those will be getting alot of hands on use, I think I'd follow J Knights dash painting method to make sure the SEM sticks good. That was you wasn't John? Do the cleaning, the promoter and all that stuff. Myself personally, when I do my door panels, I am going to do the new trim metal, but I am deleting the straps. Every, and I do mean, EVERY Square I see, those straps are short lived. If the straps aren't there, I'd hope the arm rest pulls will get used.

The door pull straps are marked under code "C" (paintable to match the color of your interior) in the LMC catalog

So they should come in black. Won't be a shiney black I don't think, but black anyway.

It's actually a blueish color :whymewhyme:

Fugg it !!! Just go to your closet, get an old belt, cut a couple matching pieces about 14 inches long, get you some drywall screws and.... DONE !!! No Worries !!! :grd:

Haahh! That's funny - I thought I was the only one cheap enough to go that route.

Couple of years ago while re-doing a set of doors I came up with that plan. Asked my wife - she didn't have any belt that was thin enough to fit under the anchoring clips, so I asked my mother. She gave me one that was just barely long enought to make a pair of matching pull straps.

Didn't last long though, the screws pulled through the vinyl/naugahyde or whatever after a couple of months. Maybe if she would have given me a real leather one...

Anyway, SEM sells a Bumper Coater product that is about as flexible as paint can get. It is a low sheen finish and blends in well with the GM black/charcoal color scheme.

Just rough up the straps with a Scotch-brite pad, wash in warm soapy water, rinse well and let dry completely.

When ready to paint, apply Adhesion Promoter in 2 coats (flash off between coats).

Heat up the can of top coat (soak it in a hot water bath) and apply in thin coats - really thin. Just mist the first couple of passes.

DO NOT LAY IT ON THICKLY - IT WILL CRACK - just enough to cover the color of the base material.
