Noob from SW VA

Hi, noob from VA. Traded an AR10 for and 86 swb 4x4 w/ 4in lift and 33's. Only a pinion bearing later and it's a perfectly good something to consume spare time with. It was originally a v6 but has been converted to 305 about 5000 ago. Planning on a carbed LSx swap when fundage is appropriate.

I'm a heavy equipment mechanic, so all this carb stuff is new to me. Looking forward to learning more.

My Paw was a HE mechanic. Worked out of the union hall freelance, had his own truck and tools, he really got his ass kicked. This was back in the 70's-80's. He didn't have the better tools and truck equipment like they have today. Didn't even have a small boom crane on the utility bed to help lift a track segment or Caterpillar engine head. Did it all old school. I think it helped take him before his time.

Here's a pic of the truck. It's pretty dirty where it's been wheeled and not cleaned afterward, but that's been taken care of. There's also a lot of BS wires the previous owner didn't bother tucking away

Men like that are a dying breed. It takes a special kind of person to do this kind of work, especially out in the weather. It makes a lot of people old before their time. I have a new service truck with all the modern conveniences of a 10K crane and hyd air compressor, but somehow that translates to me doing a lot of jobs by myself (engines, xmissions, track links, etc.). It seems like I have to beg for help for those jobs, and I get 2 tards in the way for things like an oil change.
