It's a forum. Whatever is on your mind will always be interesting to someone. Me I always like the mechanical aspects of them but anything square body I'm game for.

I have a 86 Silverado (i Think) it belongs to my step son. The rear drive shaft is almost falling out of the rear end. we had to drive it home in 4wd (about 1.5 miles)
and suggestions on where to find out the gear ratio or any other information we need to get a replacement? I don't want to tear it all apart and then look for parts, i like to have what i need and do it all at once.

Well, if you know that it's the stock rear end, you could always look to the RPO sticker in the glovebox (if it's still there) and see what it came with. I would write down anything that starts with a G or an H and look up a chart of Square Body applicable RPO codes and look it up that way. You could also look at the rear differential for tags. There are other ways, but these are the easiest ones.

If you're on a computer, just go to the main page and scroll down to where you see the sub-heading "'73 - '87 GM Truck Modifications." Everything past there (minus the place where you'd post an Introduction, which is close to the top of the homepage) is where you narrow down the location you want to post your question/observation/build thread or anything relevant basically. Say your question was "What fluid do I fill an NP203 transfer case with?" You'd scroll down to "Transmission and Transfer Case," click the "Transfer Case" button, and then you'll just hit "New Post." It's basically just delegating where your post needs to go, but there's always an appropriate place for it. If it doesn't fit into any of the forums, you'd place it in the Technical Discussion, which is more generalized. There are also Classified Ad sections you can access once you reach 50 posts, an "other vehicle" section, and various alternative sections that have nothing to do with Square Bodies or vehicles at all.
