Hey fellas my names Jesse and I've made my way to this forum cuz I'm about to pick up a sweet little swb 4x4!!

It's got a bad bearing in the 305 but the guys throwing in a mildly built 350 that's suppose to be all there to do the swap!!

Got some pretty sweet plans for it to!! Picking it up for around $4K... Let me know if y'all got any info on how the swap should go and if I'd need to change or buy anything extra!!

It's got 3/4 ton axles out of an 88 burban and only 103K original miles on the truck and motor! Brand new 6" lift and new 37" tires off a humvee!!

He also said this ""The number crosses with a GM crate 350 or Mercruiser 350 Magnum. It's mid 90s factory hydraulic roller block""... should it still be plug and play for the most part?

Howdy!

The later engine will work fine, but there are a few differences. '86 and later engines have a 1-piece rear main seal and because of that they use a different oil pan and flywheel. '87 and later heads have the center intake bolt holes at a slightly different angle, so that takes a little hole slotting to get the bolts in, or you can use the correct style intake. Some of the later blocks have the fuel pump mount, but are not drilled for the pushrod, so you would need an electric fuel pump. Even though it's set up for a roller cam, you can run a standard cam and lifter set. Personally, I'd stick with the roller cam setup.

Thanks for the info man! I wound up letting the guy keep the 350 for his sons T/A! I have a 350 chillin in my old 83 I'm gonna use instead!! Just gonna ask my dad if the motor is the original or if he took it out of something else years ago!! Just don't wanna rebuild the 305 and it be a turd lol

No doubt. You're only 40 minutes across SW 19th/SW 149th to I-44 and down the Turnpike. Sure hope I haven't thrown any rocks at any of your family.

Naww, I'm not that type.

Ohhh that's just Oklahoma. You can get your ass kicked and all bloodied up, and they'll give you hand to get up, clean all the blood off your face and offer you stay for dinner and have a beer. :insane:

Being born and raised in Los Angeles, even though I've been here over 20 years now, it still amazes me at the hospitality of the people here. Cracks me the hell up.
