It’s been a hard 14 months. All projects and work on motors has been paused due to a house move.

After much uncertainty, access issues, solicitor problems my wife and I finally completed our purchase on Friday 29th!!!!

Why am I telling you this? I’m in the UK, with UK sized garages for UK sized cars.

I own a modded Suzuki SJ, not an issue. A 2003 Ram, fits in if you make the door wider enough and a lifted K30 on 38s. Fits in if you make the door wider, lift the roof or put it on bare rims and the bonnet (hood) hits the roof beams and the garage door needs to be open to work on it.

So after much hardwork, help from mates and a fair bit of spending….

I’m still on doing the finishing touches. Got a heavy duty power cable to run from my house to a new breaker in the workshop, sockets and wiring to do. UFO style lights are fitted but need wiring into the breaker.

Overall absolutely thrilled with it! Did some work on the Ram last week and it was great. Even with the Chevy and Zuk in there I just drove it in, up on stands, loads of room!

Lot of hard work has gone into building it, plenty of help from mates.

So now i can finally start serious work on getting the K30 up & running and show ready.

Get the SJ prepped and usable again after being parked up and ignored, and as and when required just drive the Dodge in for it’s maintenance needs.

Absolutely love it. Been on routing the new heavy duty power cable. Should have that all in place this weekend ready for the electrician to connect it all up next weekend.

When I wired mine, every wall got two circuits. They leapfrog each other, so I can, for example, plug a miter into one and a small dust collector into the one next to it and not worry about overloading a 12 gauge/20 amp circuit.

Except under windows, all outlets are just above waist height.

Many of the outlets have two duplex outlets, rather than one. That way, though two things are already plugged in, I can still plug a trouble light, drill or what-have-you in.

In fact, I had to go back and add several, after finding that to be a more common problem than I expected. For example, at the drill press, I have a phone, a timed battery charging station and the drill press plugged in. Had I not had four outlets, something would had to have been plugged in and unplugged, so. . . .

I didn't cheap out on the outlets. I put good 20 amp duplex plugs in.

Each side of the shop has at least one exterior outlet. That makes weed eating, to deal with fire season, much easier.

Mindful of the fact manufacturers are too stupid, or too cheap to build their motion and light activated lights such that you can have two on one circuit, I ran 14 gauge circuits and switches for them (increased security for a lot of nickles worth of tools and equipment).

I ran three light circuits with 3-ways. One for the bays and two for the main shop area. That way, if one trips in the shop, I still have a bank of lights when I'm running some potentially mean toy.

I run the Christmas lights off an exterior outlet. I guess I should install an outlet at the eves for that purpose, before I finish sealing up that area.

At the post separating the two large bay doors, I have an outlet for chargers or trouble lights.

I have about five 240 outlets off 10 gauge, just because I can.
