Hello !!!! My name is Mark, I'm 40 and I live in Iowa. I just picked up a new to me Square Body 1987 V20 4X4. It's powed by a stinky 6.2 Diesel that will be replace with a BBC VERY SOON!!!!! The truck is RUST FREE with 81,750 original miles. It has never seen snow. I look forward to getting alot of good info from everyone here. I can't wait to start wrenching on this truck.

What size lift and tires are on it Mark???
For real, you're gonna take out the 6.2??? Some people really like them. I'm still on the fence, but hearing of 18mpg highway, makes me want to try one out. Granted, those who do love them, say they don't tolerate abuse, that you have to drive them like a sled. So be it though to get probably 16 in a 4x4 on the highway. Those were 2wd half tons getting 18-19mpg. They've also mentioned you can still tow what you want, just go about it slowly, no jack rabbit starts etc. Some guys have talked about upgrading to the 6.5 Turbo that is about an exact swap, and you can get a used low mileage one cheap from the military cuz they upgraded to improved 6.5 Turbos and selling off the OEM 6.5 Turbo motors. Seems it was like a 30,000 6.5 Turbo motor for about $2500 IIRC.

The lift is a 4" Superlift, the wheels are 16" x 8", and tires are 315/75/16

Yes the 6.2 is going BYE, BYE !!!!! It smokes really BAD on cold starts, and stinks pretty bad. The truck has never been driving in the winter, so really I don't trust it to be very reliable for me in the Iowa winters.

With the smell, smoke and the wimpy 150hp it's just not worth it to me. My last tank of fuel I averaged 12.6mpg. I've always been a HP junky, if it won't light up the trires then it's gone !!!!! The 6.2 is scary slow !!!!!
