Howdy! I'm new to THIS forum, but not to forums in general, nor to square body trucks, GM trucks (any year,) nor to older trucks in general. I have inherited my dad's '81 C10. I really miss having a truck. There are so many things that I could get, but won't fit in our Jetta. Two things that I got recently was a small load of rock and a small tree in a 10 gallon pot. Neither of them would've gone in our VW, but I also wouldn't have tried. So I borrowed my brother's '76 GMC. It's running right now. The '81 has a 4.1L (250cid) straight-six. Dad was in the middle of MAJOR repairs when he crossed over. The truck overheated, which is usually not to big of a deal for an I-6. Well this was the 'integrated' head, which is unfortunately RENOWNED for cracking. Well dad had it checked. It cracked. So his hunt was on for something new. After researching it and perusing SEVERAL different routes to approach it, he decided on a complete replacement using a 292. The 292 is already built, but he hadn't sourced everything needed to install it in place of the 250. I have. My only issue with its current setup is it came factory with a 3-on-the-tree and dad changed it to a 4-on-the-floor. I can't drive a standard shift anymore. I had a stroke in 2009, so my left leg can't push a truck clutch anymore. It's going to get a 700R4. Just waiting for next year's tax return. I already have the correct column. I was wondering if anyone had an original AM/FM setup for this?
