Got an original 73 measures 69 7/8" across.
Thanks much for the measurement! That's what someone else got also. Mine is 1/16 wider. I'm still shifting stuff around and dialing
My blazer just came back from restoration. So many parts and gaps needed correction during the process.Present body lines are now better than original. Do not expect to get perfect body lines without professional bodywork tactics and methods. It all depends on the level of your build.
Good to hear you got it back, would like to see some pics. I'm building my dads old truck to make local shows and see some road time also. I body worked the door gaps with filler rod, yes overkill but I just wanted to do one this way. I'm experimenting with shimming the hood hinges and have got the hood very close, it's good enough now but was a pain.

Hello again, welcome to my newest prob: I need a few hood measurements to compare with. For 73-80 hood, across the rear from side to side, measured right in the center of the louvers. I get 69 13/16. I have a wide gap only on one side with doors fitted and fenders fitted to door with a very good, consistent gap. The hood is new from Holley, I bought it about 3-4 years ago. Hood had a nice gap all the way around except the wide gap at rear on one side. My cab and rad support is still loose so I can scoot around but nothing works since the fenders are adjusted in and there just not enough hood. Maybe a bad stamping since it's aftermarket. I would have went with AMD but at the time Holley I believe was the only source for a hood with the smooth 73-78 front. Please don't anyone scratch paint for my sake, maybe measure an old hood that did fit good. Thanks.
Ok, I'm back with another question. After moving everything around I have a gap at all four corners of .300 give or take .030 so I'm going with that. But what does the rear of the hood rest on when closed? I always thought they rested on the hinge but both sides the hood flange rest on the fender (and sits nice and flush on both sides somehow). See the pic. Is that normal? I really don't want my new paint getting cut through with the hood flange. And I don't want to grind any off the flange and take a chance of the hood sitting too low with no material to put back on. I'll prob let it ride but is it supposed to rest on the fender? Pic is the rear of the pass side hood corner.

Anyone know?? I guess the rear of the hood is supposed to sit on the rubber pieces that go on the sides of the fender, that I don't have yet. But it sits nice without them.

Theres a couple rubber blocks on the hood IIRC. Then the bulb seal that goes all the way across the cowl.
Thanks, I just ordered the fender rubbers that support the hood. I should have already had them in place but I didn't think about that. Now I'll have a week to do other stuff that I forgot about.

Once had an aftermarket hood where lengths were different from corner-to-corner "X" pattern, was a .5" difference, was aggravating to say the least for alignment, sold it, called Speedway motors and had them measure corner-to-corner and bingo both measurements were spot-on, bought and fitted to vehicle much better.

Interesting, I didn't measure corner to corner. Now I can't wait to get home and do that.

Mines 69.5 at the front and 69.75 at the back. It doesn't touch anywhere but is closer on the driver side and the gaps are wider up front probably due to the 1/4" width difference front to rear. But my new fenders are lined up perfect with the doors and body lines so no biggie, also it's getting a new AMD hood eventually.
