missing frame crossmember?

Hey guys on my 86 K20 im missing a strength crossmember that must of rotted away hah. its the crossmember that should be in above the rear diff, or somewhere around there.

What would be the best way to make one?? just square stock? or what

Iirc, there's not a crossmember above the rear diff. The nearest one would be more or less between the rear most spring hangers.

The same one on my 85 rusted into two seperate pieces years ago and i never fixed it.

I have a class iv hitch on there that i think more than compensates for the loss of the crossmember so i never bothered to fix it.

You can fab one up pretty easily with box tubing and some flat steel.

there should be one at the hangers on both ends, front and reaer. nothing over the axle. i've got 2 squares at the house now with no beds.
