I was thinking the same thing bluex, and I don't blame him.

This same argument comes up everytime in these threads. God forbid I post a picture of where I straight cut my frame. You'd think I set fire to a truck full of puppies an toddlers or something....

here in north canada short bed without rust is impossible to find at a decent price.... i just want to find a low budget square to play around and built it my self..and long bed sorry guy i respect that choice but for me in 40 years of sport truck lowered, long bed don't fit my taste sorry....so going hunting the rare find was hard and the only one i found whit minor rust was a long one so for me cut it was a easy and cheap job to do for living my passion witour spending big buck!! so lot of tuto and photo for how to do that job and done! went i put the short bed i said "ho yesss no regret" :)

just take your time make some good mesurement...and un good welder! :) since the only kit ypou can find was the Brother Truck for 72 and below...i built my own kit inspiring on this kit (straith cut with "C" chanel insert) ;)

Like many first time posters... He never bothered to come back.

But, since we're having a discussion in here, I have no issues shortening a frame. I've done several now, and never done anything but a straight cut either.

Now, if you need a template, because you can't math out the difference in wheelbase between a swb and a lwb, then a frame chop isn't for you.

Did a similar venture last August for a 292, 14 hour round trip. So it can be done OP
I made a thread in engine forum about converting a SBC to 292 inline, guessing you did too? Could you put your 2 cents in there to? I like your 2 cents here.

On that note, don't cut a long bed. That hurts my bones and body.
