LS Swap Pollak Fuel Selector Valve

Pollak 42-159P or 42-302P?

I've seen both selector valves referenced in here for using the '87 parts in your LS swap, what is the difference between the two? Are both plug and play electrically in an '86 that originally had dual tanks? (with switching out the dash rocker to an '87 type of course)

I believe one is the valve only (42-159) and the other is a kit with a valve (42-159) and the harness connector (42-203).

ETA: Unless you are already using the 6 port on your rig you will probably need the kit with the weatherpak type plug included.

Casey, you are correct. Pollak got back to me after I reached out and confirmed the following:
Part number:
42-159 = The Fuel Selector Valve by itself
42-300 = Kit which includes the 42-159 Fuel Selector Valve as well as the 42-203 Connector, 34-592 Switch and 42-201 Face Plate
42-302P = Kit which includes the 42-159 Fuel Selector Valve as well as the 42-203 Connector

My truck is an '86 with dual tanks, so as far as I know the replacement selector valve should be plug and play I assume once I also swap out the dash switch for the '87 model. I haven't quite confirmed that part yet.

So to clarify, anyone converting from a single-wire valve, or adding dual tanks should get the 42-300 kit?

What is the difference between an '86 and '87 model year switch? I thought they were the same from '85 and up.

What is the difference between an '86 and '87 model year switch? I thought they were the same from '85 and up.
My '86 has dual tanks so I can't comment on converting from a single tank truck, but I ended up ordering the 42-302P kit just to make sure I had the correct plug for that selector valve and there weren't any issues with the shape of the plug itself or anything like that. I also plan on using the factory-style '87 dash switch not their universal rocker and face plate that comes in their 42-300 kit.

Regarding the dash switches, from what I understand '86 and earlier were just momentary switches, the '87+ model is the one that actually holds left or right tank.

I don't know squat about LS swaps but I do know plenty about the tank switching system. At the shop we try really, really hard to get guys to go with Pollak PN 42-308P That's the valve, harness pigtail and universal toggle style dash switch. I try to get guys to let me install the switch down low where it won't be obvious if they don't like the look of the metal toggle switch. Or we can wire it to interface with any of the 87' and later OEM dash switches. At least if you get the 42-308P kit you'll have everything you need, should you need it. This is the kit that handles both pressure and return, the return lines can be plugged off if not used.
