It doesn’t look like anything that would be hard to make....

First time ever seeing one. It must have been made by the owner. I don't think that is a mass produced part at least for the 84-87 model years.

Definitely not mass produced, but seems to match the aftermarket door and dash insets, as though it was part of the same kit. I agree with checking with LMC as a start.

It does look like it would slice the **** out of your feet in a wreck I’d be just putting some matching carpet on it if it bothered me that much.

I don't understand why it's there. The heat and AC boxes don't hang down anywhere near that far.

Maybe it's for a '99-'06 truck, those boxes hang low under the dash.

I’m with you I think it looks out of place and gaudy

Ah, I missed that post up there, it looks like @Craig 85 nailed it.

At any rate, for these trucks, that would just be a dress up cover trying to hide something that's not even there. Like when lighted windshield squirters were trendy. Guys would put them on hoods that didn't have ugly squirters to begin with.

I think on some of the aftermarket systems the box hangs a little lower but I can't verify that. Aside from that it's kind of like putting an attention getting device on something that is obscure and I never really noticed it needed a cover.
