I have a 1973 K5 blazer, with a LS swap with a 4L60E transmission. I have Dakota Digital gauge cluster. I tried installing a 4 speed shift indicator and I cannot get the shift indicator to line up properly. I have made several attempts to adjust the cable so the shift indicator works but can't get it to align properly thru out all the gears. Does anyone who has this set-up and find a solution?

Can you shift all gears with your column?

Yes, I have a total of 7 shift points on my column. I can shift into every gear with the column. I switched out the gear selector indicator from a 3 speed to a 4 speed but can't get the all the shift points to line up correctly.

Won't get it perfect. Have to live with the best you can get.

I ended up installing Dakota Digital GSS-3000 Universal Sender Unit for Gear Shift Position Indicator. The column gear selector would have never lined up correctly and I felt it would be problematic over time. The Dakota Digital set-up works well. Unfortunately, this should be part of the Dakota Digital Gauge Cluster and not need to set up a separate sending unit.

Have you programmed your GSS-3000 yet?

Mine was a PIA, the arm on the sender was a little loose and caused an error every time I tried. Took me a few days to figure out.

I had not issues programming it. Did it once and has worked perfect so far.

You could have replaced the column detect to get the shift indicator working right. But no light source without the original cluster

I know it has been a while since you posted this but how did you mount the arm to the shift shaft? I have a 4l60E trans and I am using the sqaurebody factory linkage with the "u" shaped bracket. If you could snap a quick photo I would greatly appricate it.

Are you asking about the GSs-3000? (see below) I cut up a factory bracket from the 4L60 I wasn't going to use on my application since I didn't like the generic brackets included with the sender.

Or the linkage between the end of the column and the transmission? (no good picture) I had to cut down (shorten) the Z bar that goes to the frame because we built the transmission with the longer U bracket intended for the big GM electronic sending unit, we cut about 1.5-2" off of it. The older 700's used a shorter shaft coming out of the side of the trans and the U was right on the side of the case so the factory Z bar is way too long if you have the extended U.

Thank you! Yeah I had to play with the z bar as well to make it function with the trans and the column shifter. I ended up moving the pivot bracket on the frame and then rebent the bar just slightly to make sure it rotated smoothly. This picture is super helpful I can not thank you enough. I was toying around with doing something similar to you or welding a tab onto the factory bracket so if I ever need to pull the trans out I dont have to worry about recalibrating the GSS.
