Ok I checked the truck out a little more today and found that there are no codes on the inside of my glove box which leads to believe it may have been replaced. So at the end of the dash like Keith said it does have an emblem and it says Silverado so maybe that's what it is but the dash to me looks really good almost to good to be that age so maybe the hole thing was replaced with a Silverado dash idk. What do I look for in my vin# to tell me?

Yeah - that front end was not available on Silverado, so either the dash pad has been swapped (likely) or the grille/rad support/headlamp arrangment has been swapped (less likely but within the realm of possibility).

There is nothing in the VIN that decodes trim level. Just basic information like model, series, engine, assembly plant and a rough sequential number.

You can, however, send your VIN and $50 to the GM Heritage Center archive and they can pull the original invoice specific to your truck, which will include RPO content, pricing, build dates and selling dealership info.
