Ok so I have a feeling the answer is in the question here but I need someone smarter than myself to tell me to toss them.

I bought some cheapo LED lights at a swap meet and tried to pop one in to see how silly they looked. But it didn’t work at all. Had the LED in the driver side and the old one in the passenger side. Pass lit up and driver didn’t. I took a couple alligator clips to the leads on the LED and tapped direct to the battery and the cheapo lit up no prob. But when in the harness it does nothing.

Am I missing something? Do I need to have both (or all 4 for my stacked lights) plugged in for them to work?

Thanks in advance.

You may need to de-pin the Amazon bulbs and re-pin them correctly. It's not uncommon for them to be wrong/backwards. Or you may need a conversion harness, I have that for my RMS Lighting kit, can't remember if it's on the lows or highs though

LEDs are usualy off or go, unless they are specifically dimmable (and those don't count as "cheap"). Could check the voltage at the connector, if its low that could keep them from coming on. Polarity is also important, normal bulbs don't care which side is + or - but LEDs absolutely do (unless the kit specifcially includes circuitry to handle either polarity, again usually costs more).
