Intake manifold leak

Hey guys, my intake manifold on my 350 sbc is leaking around one of the bolts. Can't tell if it is coolant or oil. It looks to be the only spot leaking. I was wondering wether you guys would try and pulling the bolt and putting some thread sealer on it and popping it back in or if you guys would just replace the whole manifold gasket. Here is a pic.

That for sure isn’t antifreeze. It’s oil. Pretty sure the bolt hole goes through the head and into the lifter valley. Both of mine are leaking and I’m just too lazy to fix. I’d pull the single bolt, clean the threads and put some high temp thread sealant on there and send it.

defiantly an open hole to the lifter galley , pull the bolt clean it put some sealer on it put it back in and have a beer.

Are you sure it’s not gas leaking from the carb gasket? It looks wet all the way up to the carb.

looks to be a factory manifold and probably not pulled recently so why would it start now? I don’t know just a thought

I have a bolt on my intake that leaks oil. Too lazy to fix it!

I agree with some others above... mine is like that too but on the other side in the same exact spot and.... IM TOO LAZY to change that lol

no harm in pulling a bolt at a time. just use the right sealer so it doesn't leak again.

@Isaac nickerson,

It's obviously been leaking for some time. Also to, isn't it right over the heat crossover so it's real hot right there. Any oil coming past the bolt head would spread all over that immediate area. And look, take that stupid choke spring thing off and throw it away! You're obviously not using it. And isn't the EGR valve right behind that? I don't see it in the pics. Summit and others makes a block off plate and good thick gasket for it. But since you probably need it for proper carb function and timing and whatever the heck else it works along with, I can't recall, so you probably need to keep it.

If you change out to a high performance intake/carb. setup then you can chunk it. I wasn't paying close enough attention and bought the Edlebrock manifold that had the EGR port in it. Had I been looking I would have got the manifold that didn't have any of those ports. I had to get the block off plate and all. Edlebrock even makes one that has a port for that little spring choke thing, and the EGR. Silly.

Yeah, pull the bolt like the others have suggested and seal it. You're probably not leaking anything else from there but a tiny bit of oil. I know, it's worrisome. You don't want it to get any worse. But it looks like that's about all it's doing so it probably won't get any worse than what it's doing now.
