So I see that some people install modern vehicle seats in older rigs.

Like 2010 Suburban front seats into a K5 Blazer.

Anyone ever done this? Difficulty level? Ups and downs?

I have 05 Silverado front seats and a 00-07 Tahoe 3rd row for the rear.

For the front, the difficulty level is easy. Of course, the bolt patterns don’t match so you’ll need to drill holes to bolt them down.

The rear could be tricky because of the latches on the bottom of the seat that are supposed to grab short bars in pockets in the floor. The latches are to either remove or fold / tumble the seat.

I made my own 1” tall brackets for each set of seats (the rear seats are fixed and do not release like intended).

My seat review; they’re ok. They have seatbelts which I needed plus I refuse to pay the price for aftermarket racing seats so they work.

All I'm after is the front. Rears don't matter, since they are folded forward all the time. So if I got some 2000-2007 Chevy Suburban leather seats, you figure they will bolt right in with a little drilling?

It’ll depend on your floor. The floor in my 91 Blazer is flat from the pedals to the step up at the front of the rear seat which made it as easy as drilling 4 holes for each seat. I know floors are raised under the seats, I’m not sure about earlier Blazers but that could make the seat feel too high.

Hmm. I will have to take a look.

As for the seats, I wonder if manual or electric would be the way to go. Or even ones with built in seat heaters.

My driver seat was electric and the passenger seat had a weight sensor for the airbag. I swapped the one to a manual track and removed the weight bladder, I wanted everything to be simple and no wiring.
