I believe what I have is the three finger style. My question is the replacements seem to not be? They have alot more. Is this just a new design or will it make a difference. Thanks

As far as I know, all the squares I recall doing back in the day had the dighram type clutch with all the fingers all the way around. So I'd say it's possible that clutch you have now was an upgraded heavy duty clutch. Nothing with those diaphram type pressure plates. I've always known them to be reliable and long lasting, and whole clutch assembly for that matter so long as you have the flywheel turned so it's smooth and true.

What transmisison do you have? 4 speeid with Granny Low or 4 Speed with Overdrive?
Not sure about 84, but in 87, there was 2 different clutch plate sizes. The 4 speed overdrive trans used the bigger one. That shouldn't matter to anything on a fresh turned flywhee. If it's just a few bucks more, I'd go with the bigger clutch plate.

How much if at all do you grease the throwout bearing?

To the best of my knowledge, NO you don't. Now I've seen zerks on medium duty truck that you grease. But if no zerk, then NO, DO NOT do it. If you're thinking it's like packing a wheel bearing, NO. You'll end up slinging grease in an area you don't want grease. Now it doesn't hurt to put some grease on the clutch fork pivot ball. Sometimes you'll also have a zerk for the pivot ball, but I don't think these light duty trucks have it.

Mine is a sm465 and it does have a zerk on it for the pivot ball. However there is nothing for the bearing. Thanks

Just put a small amount of grease on the splines.

I've never paid much attention to what trans has a zerk and what doesn't. But even the NV3500 in my S10 has a zerk fitting for the fork pivot.
