HVAC Blower/Mode Switch Repair

This little unit was causing the blower motor not to run on any mode that would run the AC compressor, including Defog. This is on my '79, I'm not sure what year ranges this switch was used. but it was gone by the mid 80's.

It was mounted to the HVAC control head.

Opened up. There's a rotary vacuum switch that was still working fine, and a sliding electrical switch that was making poor contact.

All cleaned up and ready for fresh grease. I just sanded the contacts with 180 grit, followed by a red scuff pad. I also retensioned the little spring that holds the contacts tight together.

Put back together. Had to make sure the contact stayed in place while snapping to two case halves back together.

And installed back in it's hole.

I now have a working blower on all settings now.
