it was a combination of things for me basically i was flooring it up huge sand hills all day and heard a nice bump checked out everything and had a pretty good leak on the transmission/tcase adaptor plate well thought it was the seals so i replaced the tranny out put and all the t case seals slapped it all back together and drove it down the road(fast) and the rear most u joint litterally grenaded and low and behold a huge ass crack and a huge puddle of atf

Sumbish Chris !!! NO, Not a Th400. How the hell??? Something came apart in the back of the case I assume? Low/Reverse Roller clutch maybe, which is very very rare. WTH, most catastrophic failures are rare on a Th400. Sungear or planet broke in the back? Intermediate roller sprag has been known to come apart with some mega wear. Lots of horsepower maybe?

Stupid me, I oughta read. I got so turned on by the carnage pics, I didn't see you mentioned the driveshaft, but yeah that will sure cause it near the tail section. Now it all makes sense and I can see how that happened. So what are you going to replace it with?

That's not to bad. Normally a Stage 1 or Stage 2 shift kit will also take care of that issue of shifting out of 1st into 2nd.

Once in a snow storm I slid off the road in a turn and there was half buried concrete filled barrels dumped there, it caught my front axle and pushed it back, the drive shaft pushed back into the T-case, it snapped the adapter housing.

my buddy had to get a new adapter for his th350-400 swap and it damn near took him 3 months to find one and even then it was in rough shape
