It’s took me 3 evenings after work to read all the post. You have an amazing build between your truck and the engine builds you have going on. Definitely will be following

Well, the shop next-door wanted me to degree in his cam on a 454 he's building ..
He bought a double roller timing chain set that wasn't dialable ..
Tried to get it on the numbers but it wasn't going to happen with what he had ..

I bought a double roller for my 500 ci motor which was dialable, we used it on his motor and put the numbers on the money .. He paid me what I had in it ..

Now I'm needing a timing chain set ..
Going to add a few bucks to the pile and go gear drive ..

This is not a noisy one ..
( Not that it would matter a great deal, got a 1000 watt amp on the stereo in the beast )

Used parts from a boneyard helps, but some items are bought new ..

Acquired a panel from God only knows what ... ( Junkyard stuff )
Tach hole is the right size. but not the oil/temp holes ..
Doesn't look like there's room to make em larger to fit the Auto Meter gauges ..

Another item that's new has been ordered ..

Fuel tank is next to mount up ..

It's a late model Mark IV 2-bolt main ..

Tore it down for a look-see, been bored .060" over ..
Bores got a little rust at the top of the bores, might be able to hone under the rust or take it out to .070" over .. ?

Pistons all look good and reusable ..
Even the cast iron crank got many more miles to be had from it ..

Only needs a polish job ..
Heads are Peanut Port, they look to be buildable ...

Do a common valve job on em, a set of rings, bearings and a gasket kit, would net a nice low buck 454 + motor ..

Really didn't have a need for another big block ..
Got a 2-bolt that's mostly altogether sitting in a corner of the shop that I'm wanting to sell ..
It's soon to have company ..

Unless ...
One of you boys wants a cheap 467 ci BBC motor .. ?

Washed up the oil pump and took it apart, dang thing looks like new .. Replace the gasket and put in a Corvette pressure release spring, it will be ready for more action ..

Got the heads ready to check for cracks, do think they're fine .. Soon to confirm that thought ..

Block is next to wash up and do some checks ..

Okay ...
Back to the motor that's going in my truck ..
A while back when I was working on it I hunted down a set of reinforcement strut rods ..

They add some beef that helps to keep things from breaking .. ( We hope ! )
I installed them when the 400 ci small block was going to power the truck ..

Had to modify a brand new oil pan to have room for the rod ..

Now that I changed horses in the middle of the creek with building up a monster big block, I get to do it all over again ..

This time around I'll be working with aluminum ..

Could save me a bunch of work by using the Oem 4x4 oil pan ... It would be plug and play ... But that would take all the fun out of modifying the Mercruiser aluminum boat motor oil pan to work ...

Didn't take alot of meat off the pan, but will weld some inside to make sure there won't be any problems down the road ..
