fuel tank swap

Has anyone swapped the saddle tank for a 40 gallon rear mount suburban tank? I put a flat bed on my 79 regular cab long bed k25. But I don't want to give up my side boxes on it.

I've heard it can be done but it takes a lot of modifying. I know at least one cross member has to come out. But with the flat bed I can raise it up a few inches to give me a little extra clearance.

how much clearance did you have between the tank and your rear end? from the measurements I got from LMC it is going to pretty close to my 10.5" 14 bolt.

About how far did it hang down past your frame rail? That should get me a good idea what I will have.
