Probably wouldn't hurt to get both, probably be the same in shipping, and then both are new

Last question then I go clean out the engine bay a bit while I wait for the new idle screws. I also ordered a new accelerator pump but the kit from Mike's came with what appears to be a new seal and spring to "rebuild"the old pump. I'm not sure how to get it apart to replace pieces... am I missing something simple?

ok- got everything put back together and the truck started up and idled fine once it warmed up. However, as I revved the throttle it would stumble and backfire up through the carburetor. Not happy about this as it did not happen before except for the very last time I ran it to get it to the garage. Not I'm wondering if this is connected to the carb or did some other issue come about at the same time? not sure what I missed, all the linkages are reattached and all the vacuum lines reconnected.

Not sure if this is timing related - I have an HEI if that matters

Oh - and after I parked it around back and turned it off - there as a screech or squeal just as I turned the key off. Probably lasted for a second or less

Did you do any work prior to the carb rebuild especially plug wires or distributor cap?

No sir, just oil change, brake master cylinder and new drums. This is my first time playing with fire and electricity on this truck

Do a full tune-up, and report back.

Went through all connections again to make sure everything is tight, found the line to the vacuum advance was not connected. Not sure if I didn't seat it properly or if I knocked it loose while making other connections - but this problem seems to be addressed.

Thanks again to everyone for the help and putting up with so many questions

Probably wouldn't hurt to do a full tune-up and replace vacuum lines if those weren't replaced with the carb rebuild or within the last few years.
