My new to me 89 dually has some Pacific duallies simulators on it. At low speeds they knock an pop an it drives me nuts. What can I do to stop this?

I'm also considering dumping the simulators an painting the wheels silver, getting a set of trim rings an these center caps (or some similar).

http://m.ebay.com/itm/201086501097

Would those caps work an would they go on before the wheels, or between the wheels and the ring that locates the lugs?

I think this look with a silver wheel would look good on my truck which is dark blue.....

That one isn't mine just an example I found on how I'd like to do my wheels if I can't get the simulators to stop making racket....

There are not too many folks around here with duallies unfortunately. No idea why your simulators would be popping, other than that they might be out-of-round or something. I like those caps you linked to, I might try a set of those on mine lol!

I'm indifferent. I like simulators but also like the wheels painted with or without trimmings. My simulators made noise too for a while, but it eventually stopped doing it.

Are the lugs all tight? Do the simulators come close to rubbing a bulging tire sidewall?

Yes I torqued all the lugs an they aren't close to the tires. I believe it's the rear ones, they don't fit as snug as the fronts an the center is held on with two screws to a ring under the lugs that is pretty flimsy imo.
