I have an 86 Chev c 10 swapping to LS. It has dual tanks and I will be using only one with the fuel pump in the tank. My question is which side do I use , Drivers side or passenger side ?

It doesn’t really matter, but on a dual tank ‘86 the driver”s side is the main tank.

The later trucks had the motorized switching valve so they stay put. The early trucks 73-? would return to the tank that didn’t need power on the switching valve when that circuit opens. Ask me how I know. I always ran off the tank that needed power to run, the other tank always stayed full. Funny after all these years I don’t remember which side. I think the right tank was the one I always left full on my first square back in the. 70s

Doesn't matter, just pick whichever side you want to plumb from. The driver's side is easiest cuz it's basically a straight shot

I wouldn’t hack up, toss out or lose any of the dual tank components. It will be real nice to have the extra fuel at some point in the future imo.
Plus it’s cool to have duals!

I agree with Huck, the DS tank will be easier to route

Seems like the fuel rail connection is at the DS rear of most GM EFI
You'll have a shorter distance to run EFI rated fuel line and return line.
IIRC both of my evap canisters were on the DS
Filling the truck up at the gas station is easier on the DS

Also, I had more room on my DS frame to mount a fuel filter housing but I have a 4x4 so the front drive shaft, transfer case and transfer case support bar are all on the PS. All of that stuff plus the exhaust pipe would have made a fuel filter unserviceable on the PS.

I'd prefer to use the right side tank. You and a full tank probably add 350lb to the drivers side.Nothing to the passenger side I'd prefer my battery and fuel tank on the opposite side for weight distribution.

On my 79 the battery tray is on the PS. Until I wire the tank selector, it's plumbed on its default to the PS tank. Say 8# to the gallon x 20 gallons and one lead acid battery later, I bet I outweigh the problem by at least a couple pounds and if I'm lucky it's a wash. Not that I'm using it yet anyway, still have some piddly squat to get worked out first (like that tank selector switch) so the overall reliability and drive ability is up more where I like it. Too many 2 lane roads with no shoulder out here to be breaking down over stupid shyt.

I say pick a tank and plumb it in and go for it!
