Pre 68 sbc with a tube for installing oil with a vented cap. Possibly a 327 or a 283 or something later with an old style intake on it. Looks like it has power pack heads.

Oh wow. This is pre HEI? Are pre 68 sbc have any value in building or working with it? Any good parts?

if you find out what it likely came from it’ll be of value for someone restoring a car to close to original spec. I have a 327 sitting in my garage and it’s date code puts it’s production date at the end of 1961.

No, it will stay dirty in the corner like the other engines until I repower my skidsteer and clean the shed. The skidsteer will make this a hell of a lot less work

Yes as stated, early small block. No threaded bolt holes in the front of the heads for accessories. 1950's would have a generator. The alternator suggests early 1960's, but that could be changed.

About the skid steer, what brand? There is a forum for everything. I have a little knowledge about New Holland.

Well once I get the shed cleaned up if you wanted to travel half way across the US to get it i would part with it.

Lahman. A derelict company from south dakota. small machine. K series kohler that takes about 1 part oil to 2 parts gas.

Its a 4 stroke btw.

BTW, Generators were still in use in 62 that I know for sure. I'm wanting to say alternators came about in 63 or 64. So if it's original I'd say it's a 63-67 engine. Does it have a 2 or a 4bbl intake? If it's 4bbl you're guarenteed its a 327, but there were some 2bbl 327's. You can get the code #'s off the passenger side of the block right in front of the head on the flat pad. Probably just 2 letters as old as it is. Later on the codes went 3 letter.

Wait.... I just put 2 and 2 together. I have 4 4th gen impala bodies rotting on my property.. I stg if this is a mid 60s impala 327 im gonna flip. im going to go check right now, this is important for me.

It very well could be. You can tell if it's a passenger car engine or a truck engine by the exhaust manifolds. If it's truck they both dump straight down, if a car, one of them dumps at an angle towards the back.

Thats what I got on the front of the engine by the... er... well where alt bracket would be on a later sbc. So the passenger side on block near head
