I just got an email from the forum saying it's been a while since I posted, which prompted me to post about my latest problem.
I'm installing a square, center-mount fuel tank from Tanks, Inc. i.e. 1973-81 Chevy Blazer Fuel Injection Gas Tank. The tank has a pretty standard EFI fuel pump, and this fuel neck, which came with the tank, but strangely they don't sell on their website: 6 Hole 90 Degree 1-5/8" OD Bolt On Filler Neck w/ 5/8" Vent, Part Number: FN15B.
Terminating the filler hose at the inlet end is a custom billet filler neck that came with the (1973-87) Hidden Tail Light Fuel Filler Kit.
This 1-1/2 inch outside diameter fitting has no vent tube fitting incorporated. And even though Tanks Inc. sells a gaggle of hoses, necks, and couplers, there's not a single fitting that will connect two 1-5/8 inch (or 1-1/2 inch) hoses that has an integrated 90° fitting for a 5/8 inch vent line.
Our plan, from tank to filler neck, is to plug a 1-5/8 inch (or 1-1/2 inch) filler hose and 5/8 inch vent hose onto the tank fitting, run those up to a coupler that has an outside diameter of 1-5/8 inches (or 1-1/2 inches), and incorporates a 90°, 5/8 inch fitting for the vent line, and then use a small piece of 1-5/8 to 1-1/2 inch reducing hose (or just 1-1/2 inch hose) to connect the coupler to the filler neck.
We can use all 1-1/2 inch hoses and fittings and just warm up the hose and jam it onto the 1-5/8 inch fitting at the tank, or we can do the reducing system I described above.
Our problem is that no one on the planet makes a 1-5/8 inch (or 1-1/2 inch) outside diameter coupler with a 90° 5/8 inch integrated vent line fitting. How do we solve this? Has no one else ever had this problem in the last hundred years? Certainly we can't be the first ones?
Any ideas?
