My 1986 c30 has an issue where the cargo light constantly stays on as long as the battery is hooked in, weather the switch for the cargo lamp is on or off or the interior switch is on or off, not even sure where to start on this.

Probably a wire is hooked up wrong, or a wire is touching something it shouldn't.

The power wire for the dome and cargo always has 12v. Key on or off. You're getting a short to ground somewhere.

They turn the lights on with ground. Are your dome and courtesy lights operating properly? It seems that if any part of the system has a problem it affects the other lights in some way as well.

Check under the door sill plates and the wiring harness runs up the drivers b-pillar.
