Howdy everybody,

I searched to no avail- I have a swb- manual windows- an a pile of
stuff coming to fix em- regulators, felts, rubbers, the whole show-

I took the d-panel off- rolled the glass up an down about 100 times
thinking of "how the he!@@ does this come out (in one piece)

Would anyone know of a thread, post, sticky on "regulator replacement"

I know I can do it- I really like a little "directions" the first time,

Thanks ahead, RC:shrug:

I had the same problem, looking at the thing i had no clue how it came out, but its easy, it all goes together like a puzzle.
First off, throughout the time make sure to always be ready to hold the window up-as your removing the regulator, make sure you have a hand on the window so you dont drop in inside the door and break it.

So, theres 4 bolts on the top left quadrant of the door (After door panel and all that stuffs taken off), those hold on the regulator. Have the window a ways up (So the gear/thing the regular has on it clears the bar going up for the vent window support), then you cna undo the 4 bolts and push the regulator back, so that the window crank handle goes back inside the door.
Then, its pretty staight forward. You have to get all the rollers off the tracks, the tracks have slots in them that you can use to get it off. Really, what i did was messed around with it, twisted everything every which way spun it around and it all came apart, then if you have the weatherstripping on the bottem of the door off you can slide the window out through there, and the regulator if you turn it the right way out the hole in the door.

Really, just start going at it. It takes a little while, but really is just like a puzzle coming apart

I've done it several times and its always a pain in the ass lol. Just got to dive into it, be patient, and try to remember how it all goes back together. This is in my future plans as well. I took the old regulators out and tired to spruce them up. The return springs on them rust up and start to bind. I tried everything to clean the rust out of the spring windings and lube them. They still grind. Only right way to do it is replace them.

Door panel off, remove vent window assembly, unbolt rear lower window track. Now you can slide window fore and aft. look for cutout in roller track bottom of window, pull front roller out of track and rotate front of window up and remove through window slot. Just went through both my doors, it is a PIA. If you are going to renew vent window rubber get back to me, there is more than meets the eye to doing them

Here are some random (no text) images that I took when stripping a door recently. They might be of some help - especially on the handle linkage:

Just zipped and upped the complete 1977 Chevy/GMC Light Truck Service Manual to DepositFiles.

I wrote a tutorial with "pitchers and everthang"

It's 861 pages of real good info. It will download in about 3 minutes or so - depending on your connection speed.

vent window education

well I got one door nearly completely apart- didn't break a thing, tore down the frame-rubber was hard as a rock an came out in little pieces from the vent.
Had a pile of stuff from lmc:whymewhyme: rubbers were the one piece styly,
I got better ones en-route, switched to the door hinges-again LMC- pretty close but not a dead match-I may just put pins in the old ones- spent 3 hrs
on the pass. door- truck had a minor collision in front- still haven't got a perfect reveal around the door-used big washers etc-

drilled out the rivet in the vent-looks like that's gonna be a bit@# to get
a premium result-I have many rivets an guns-???
Painted the frame etc- waiting,,,,,again<<<<

All the photos an suggestions helped immencely, Thanks to all,
