Is there a deeper or better power port/cigarette lighter for our trucks to use a phone holder in? I have an original one socket in my 84 Sierra but the phone holder I have isn't tight in it, like it doesn't go in far enough, and I'm seeing small sparks when I try to plug it in. It has a usb port, but I want it mostly to hold my phone. I'm sure my socket is worn out, but it holds my phone charger just fine. Here's the holder I have.

I have mounted one under the dash. I also ran a fused line (25 amp rating) through the firewall and directly to the power junction, so i don’t have to worry about overloading the fuse box.

You can try putting a thin screw between cig lighter and the tray to make it slightly tighter. Some PO put couple of screws into mine which made it so tight that I could barely plug anything.

BTW I recommend a mount that I made using L shaped piece of metal and a "vent" type holder, screwed to it, you can glue it with a double sided tape in the gap between dash pad and a dash. Very solid and would not leave any visible residue if I ever want to remove it. I don't have any better picture rn,
