What kind of battery are you guys running? I just bought a brand new 850 Cold cranking battery and it has trouble turning the motor over when it's cold out. Starts fine when it is warm though. The battery is from Menards. It's a no name battery, but I thought 850 CCA battery would be more than enough. Any input will be helpful, Thanks guys!

If your battery cables (to the starter and alternator bracket) have not been replaced in the last 10 years, replace them. They corrode internally with no outward sign. The issue can be temperature dependent.

also make sure the cables are all tight as can be. an 850cc should be more than enough

X3 on the cables even 350 cca would do.

Yeah, looks like they have a 35" and a 78", which I think would do. Measure what you got first.

If its not the cables I would suspect a defective battery. I have never had much luck with no name batteries. I do believe the manual calls for a 750 or 850 CCA battery. I run a 1050 CCA dual set up with a 108 amp alt. I have had issues before with 850 CCA batteries. But none with the 1050s

I had a Duralast Gold battery that was only 2 years old. It took a ****. Then I borrowed my buddies Interstate battery and it cranked it over when it was warm but..Nothing when cold.

Usually it has troubles the other way around. Hard to start when hot and good when cold. But it very well likely is your cables. Its amazing what a difference cleaning all the connections makes. Especially at the starter. WD 40 is an excellent corrosion inhibitor for electrical connections.

If they are the original cables that came with the truck its not a bad idea anyway to just replace them all, ground cables included.

I had that problem the other day. clamps were clean and tight so I figured the battery went bad. Took the clamps off and cleaned them and the posts and put them back on and she fired right up and I haven't had any problems since. and its a 550 CCA.

Hm. Ill clean connections tonight. I cleaned the cables that connect to the battery

could have gotten a bad battery or it could be the cables. those cables they sell at a lot of the parts stores are one step above junk. highdesertranger

I used 4 gauge welding wire for my batt to starter connection. Bump the ignition switch and it fires right up
