I am having my truck painted at this time and the windshield and back glass are out of it. I am considering buying and putting a sliding glass back window in the truck since it has no air conditioning and I could use the ventilation. But I am wondering if this is a desirable thing to have or is it going to be more of a nuisance?

I loved mine. That and the wing windows and floor vents open all the way made for a nice breeze. There is some additional risk of someone breaking into the truck but if they want in they will get in anyway.

That is what I was thinking about too. My 1978 Jeep J10 has sliding glass back window that I use for a breeze in lieu of A/C and I installed a headache rack with bars across it so no one could break in though the sliding glass.

The 85 i used to have was with sliding glass. I liked it, but it made it easy to get in when keys got locked inside one time.

I will say not all slider latches are equal. I don't know which are the most secure. I always figured I could lay some 3/8" rods in the channels if I wanted to make sure it wouldn't open. The way I see it if someone is willing to break glass to enter a vehicle nothing will keep them out.

Go for the slider! Nothing says 80's squarebody like a sliding rear window.

Just bought one from a seller in my state. Does anyone know who sells the rubber seals for these? LMC maybe?

Also, who sells the best replacement window latches for these? The last one that I bought that was the Dorman HELP brand only lasted about a month and then it broke when it was used for the second or third time. Those things are so damn cheaply made. I was hoping someone had improved the design by now.

Only thing I hate about mine is if you have any leaves in the bed they will end up in the cab with you.

I have run into a problem. When I was trying to remove the broken pieces of the plastic lock that was on my sliding glass rear window two of the screws broke off. This is probably going to be a pain to get those screw pieces out. Has anyone else ever had this happen? And if so what was the solution?

Are the screws threaded into the aluminum frame? Can you post a pic?
