Okay , I also have remote start switches and I think every tech at every shop I've worked at had one. It clips to your battery hot lead at the starter and engages the solenoid, I've just gotten too lazy to go grab one every time I need to crank an engine from under the hood.In 35 years of working at independent shops, dealerships, franchise shops, I've never seen a vehicle damaged by someone shorting the starter or using a remote start switch.I suppose that's because I was working at dealerships franchises etc. With people that knew which wires to cross. Maybe a tip I shouldn't pass on to just anyone. It's about to get interesting based on everyone's suggestion of jumping the starter. Once we try that we'll have a fried solenoid and other burnt wires to diagnose.![]()
