Not sure the shape of your piston or how much space you have at the top of the piston travel, but I’d be careful if the spark plug you get has a longer reach than what’s currently in it. Measure twice kinda thing.

Im a not an ignition guy or even highly knowledgeable. I do however know why large gap causes ignition components to fry. Electricity flows along its path being"pulled" towards ground. Each component needing juice "calls" for the charge. A larger gap "calls" for more juice and the larger the gap the larger the resistance(heat) to flow at the "signal" point..therefore burning up coils and resistors. Every thousandth of gap is a measurable difference in resistance and since were talking thousandths it doesnt take much to add up. The reason you go with a super coil is to mitigate the resistance and provide more juice at the beginning of the circuit allowing for a higher gap or more juice with the lower gap. I can only assume the factory gap is a balance of spark strength and long life of coil.

No wonder spark plug gap guy got pissed. Nobody answered his thread. Then Vince asked the same question and got 100 posts in an hour.

Lmfao. :happy175::happy175::happy175:

The factory gap of the tbi 350 being .035 imo is intended for a low compression, low flowing, pathetic ignition system with somehow mpg in mind.... sheesh what a turd they are in stock form (sorry tbi peoples)

I had a basically 100% stock 1/2 ton, 2wd suburban, smaller tire, 3.08 ratio tbi 350, and 700r4, it got on the upper part of 20 or a lil more mpg on the highway but *** a turd in the aspect of acceleration.

I have this 1/2 ton, 2wd burb, 31" tire, 3.42 ratio, built trans, stout tbi 350 ive done some mods to, the difference is night and day with my ignition system, timing, performance chip, plug gap, yada yada yada.

Making MO POWA, but about 14 on the highway.

I should add the motor itself already had decent potential making 330 ponies and 385 ft lbs on the dyno.

I still have a few more mods in mind plus this ignition stuff

(My 46mm "VBI" unit, roller rockers (small hp gains), 4.10 rear gears)

Besides, lifes too short to being taking yourself TOO seriously. If i just live up to the vision people have of me, it all works out for the better.
B rate?
Yeah, this kid is building mud and monster trucks from his backyard with a screwdriver , welder, and the help of a machine shop down the driveway.

(And beer)
