Not even sure what my axles are, 10 bolt, Dana this, Dana that, I'm ignorant on axles, definitely stock though since I know the history of the truck. I think I have 3.42s or 3.54s. How low can I go before I need a new carrier? The reason I ask is because on my Excursion I was told if I wanted lower than 4.56s I had to change carriers. 4.10s will put me back to stock ratio with my 33s but just wondering how far my options go. And while I'm in there I want to do a mechanical locker, Eaton, Detroit???????

You have dual 10 bolts, could be 3.42 or 3.73 gears. I don't think the 3.08 ratio was used (common in a pickup or K5). If you don't have the G80 Govloc, you can simply replace the spider gears with a lunchbox locker. Otherwise it will have to be a full carrier style replacement, which tends to be a little stronger and also gives you a couple street friendly options.

If your truck was built later in the model year, it should be 30 spline. But the only way to be certain is pull it apart and check.

And what about ratios, is there a stopping point before I need a new carrier? Or am I even right about needing one going beyond a certain gear ratio? I'm thinking 4.10s or 4.56s so I think I'm still in the same ball park.

It's 2.56-down and 2.73-up. So you're good.
