I'm Matt, and I own a 1985 K10 Stepside. It's my daily driver, and as of this moment, it has a 4 inch lift, 33" tires, 4x4, dual exhaust, 700r4 transmission, and......... a 305 sbc....... This summer, should all go to plan, I'll be doing a freshening up of the internals; transfer case, trans, diff, and anything else that so much as creaks in a way I don't like. I also have some rust repair to do on my doors and rockers. To top it all off, I'm going to do an engine swap to finally put that poor, poor 305 out of its misery. Naturally, I'll be putting in a 454, and beefing up the transmission to help get the power to the road. Unfortuantely, this is where I fall short, as my expertise is mostly limited to motorcycles, this will be my first real car project, not counting helping friends and family with theirs.
More posts will come in the next month in their appropriate forums, and I'm sure that I'll have plenty of questions and frustrations to share. So when they do, I'll need some help! While I'm not completely inept, I'll need some guidance when I start doing crazy things like taking the transmission to pieces.
