so I bought this 85 on a whim and plans to fix it up. So heres the story all I have done is move it from one spot to another. The spot I moved it to last year I now need to move it again however when I try to start it, it cranks fine but right at that point where it should fire on there is a loud thump like someone hit it with a baseball bat. It doesn't start I just stop the crank right then at that.
I asked a few guys that know more about engines than I do but they seem to be stumped. One said sounds like a rod or valve but another one said it wouldn't crank smooth like it does if that was it.
Any ideas to look for to get this to run again
