Hey everyone I have a 74 c10 with a 700r4 that needs rebuilt found one with fresh rebuild on marketplace wondering if anyone could help identifying the two to see if it will be compatible.

Mine is the “3YK203D”

Hey everyone I have a 74 c10 with a 700r4 that needs rebuilt found one with fresh rebuild on marketplace wondering if anyone could help identifying the two to see if it will be compatible.

Yours is a 1983 out of a "5.0L "B"-CAR (Wagon)"

The one you're looking at is a 1984 out of a "5.0L "F"-CAR" (A Camaro or Firebird). I don't know what your tail shaft looks like but the F body tail shaft mounts to a torque arm, so I imagine you'll have to swap yours onto the new one. But you may want to consider finding a 1987 and up for the higher spline count and auxiliary valve body, among other improvements. I am no expert on any of this, fyi. But @NickTransmissions transmissions certainly is.

The first number followed by the next two letters (3 letters after 1986). A 1982 model starts with a 9, then 1983 starts with 3, 1984 starts with a 4, etc. Yes, that means a 1989 model also starts with a 9. The following two (or three letters) indicate what it came out of.

Go to this link, it's the ATSG THM 700-R4 "UPDATE HANDBOOK". The identification chart starts at page 99.
