What kinda mileage can I expect from a 6.2 turbo diesel? I got 4.10 rears and th400 trans, 235/85/16 tires. I don't drive my autos hard just my stick shifts, I seen. Guys claim 23 whith the same setup and others claim 13. Just wanna know the reality. Cousin claimed he was getting 22 highway with 35's, 4.11's and a sm465with the 6.2 he sold me. Any input?

I have heard the 20's neighborhood from most. As long as the engine has been maintained properly, and you dont plant your foot all the time, its doable.
Diesels are much more thermally efficient than gassers.

That's what I was hoping to hear, just a little unbelievable with 4.10s , I'm gonna drive it a little, but might switch to a 3.42 eventually

3.42 and stock tires are the ticket.

As long as you're not running high RPM's, you should get at least in the upper teen's.

I even thought about throwing a 3.08 10 bolt underneath, but my only concern is how well will that pull hills? I live in the Appalachian mts.

I had a 86 with 31" tires, 3:42 gears and a 4 speed that got 22-24mpg depending on how I drove it. I have a M1028 6.2 with 400 turbo and the 4:56 gears that does 16mpg just for some comparision

K so far I'm liking what I hear. But I'm definitely gonna have to stay outta the turbo, can't run much boost on a 6.2 anyhow. But so far guys thanks for the input
