What's an easy or ideal way to remove a 350 and 4 speed trans? Together, apart? If apart, is there an easy way to split them? Neither are going back in truck. 77 c10

Easiest way would be to pull the front clip off and drag it out as an assembly. Or if you don't wanna mess with the sheetmetal, I'd still drag it out together. Just remove the hood and bring it out the top

I don't even remove the hood. Lots of people do. A friend of mine argued and argued with me about it with my 75 Trans Am. Since he was free help I gave in,okay we do it your way. He dropped his corner and broke my windshield going back on. Separating the 4 speed is easy and will make coming out easier for a newb. Just take the four bolts out between the bellhousing and transmission put a block under the transmission, pull the engine then you can deal with the transmission. Some times some cars unsure on squares you can take the front 2 hinge to body bolts out push the hood up higher then screw the bolts back in to keep the hinges pivoted up

Thanks Totalyhucked. Thanks Ricko1966 I think I'm looking at the bolts you're talking about.
Both ways will work

don't remove the hood. remove the core support and the bumper, that's how I have done it. remove the grill, headlight bezels and wire harness from the core support, then the core support, loosen the 2 bolts on the backside of each fender well and the 1 bolt on top of the fender by the hinge. that will let you push the fenders out enough to clear the core support. then remove the bumper from the frame. takes about 2-2.5 hours. then you have full access to the engine compartment without using a step stool.
