Some have a vent hole in the plug. Those need the "O" seal and holder like Randy posted.

There are several styles of this also, some have a spring. Since your picture does not show an "O" ring holder, the yoke you need should not have a vent hole.

Note: The trans fluid level is lower than the rear yoke splines. When parked the yoke will not leak if the truck is parked nose down. If you park on a hill with the front up, then it will leak.

That’s how I first noticed it while putting the vehicle together . Was Jack up at the front and leaked out . So either plug the hole up good (I’ve seen the kits) or get another yoke with no hole yea ?

Isn’t it supposed to vent somehow though ?

The case should be vented on the top, also I went thru and looked at hundreds of replacement TH350 yokes even billet ones and they were all built like the one I posted a pic of not a single one had a vent in the yoke itself. Must be a factory thing that may have been dropped at some point. Possibly due to this very issue.

I think I noticed some kind of vent on the drivers side higher up .ill take another look next time im there . Also I think some yokes had a spline missing like in my pic (at 10 o’clock ) which served as a vent of sorts . Contacted the guy I bought the motor and trans from . He said his yoke had no hole and a missing spline . So I’ve closed the hole up and going with that as he had no problems for years .

The splines are the same way on mine except no vent and Billet for a race trans. A bunch of GM transmissions used the same spline count and arrangement.
