205 transfercase speedo gears help?

I am wondering how to change the gears or gear on the speedo drive.I see there is threads where the cable goes on . I also see a large nut behind that.Does anyone know if i can just pull off the nut and the gear comes out ?
Or do i have to remove the drive shaft,rear yoke,and tail housing?

Just the big nut on the speedo part that goes into the case,, tip,, use a socket and a half inch breaker bar,, there in there tight most of the time and a wrench will just slip off and round off the nut part...

Be careful ya dont drop the gear into the extension housing,, or ya might have to pull it off also...
