The stock parking brake pedal won't stay down anymore. I suspect it's a weak spring holding a locking lever to a geared cam type thing. Is it best to take the whole thing off and do a rebuild (any rebuilt kits?), buy a new aftermarket parking brake pedal (although I imagine the fit wouldn't be perfect), or replace a single easily accessible spring somewhere?

Looking to do minimal fix ups to get road legal then start beautifying/ upgrading later.

Could try some wd-40 or other type of spray lubricant on it first. May free it up. I had a similar thing on my '65 with the pull handle. Sprayed some lube on it, now it catches and I didn't have to take it apart or anything.

And it won't take a lot, just enough to loosen it up.
